Ahly claimed their 11th Champions League title after holding Moroccan side Wydad 1-1 in the second leg of the competition's final in Casablanca on Sunday.

The Cairo giants, who won the first leg 2-1 in Cairo a week earlier, clinched the title after claiming a 3-2 win on aggregate.

Wydad took the lead in the first half, thanks to a goal from international full-back Yahia Attiat Allah in the 27th minute. However, Ahly defender Mohamed Abdel-Moneam levelled the score with a trademark header in the 78 th minute, helping his side win the title,

Ahly started the game in a slow rhythm, giving the hosts the chance to dominate the game in terms of possession and gain three successive free kicks that made a real threat on Al Ahly's keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi.

In the 27th minute, Yahia Attiat Allah's shot from a free kick defeated keeper El-Shennawi on his far post, giving Wydad the lead which was sufficient for the Moroccans to win the title.

Ahly seemed disjointed, especially with the poor performance of the midfield trio who appeared deconcentrated.

In the second half, coach Marcel Koller made a double substitution in the stroke of the hour-mark, introducing Mohamed Magdi and Ahmed Abdel-Qader to improve the team's offensive performance.

Ten minutes later, Koller intensified his offense with another double substitution as Amr El-Soulaya and striker Mohamed Sherif replaced out-of-form players Hamdi Fathi and Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneam.

In the 78th minute, Ahly international defender Mohamed Abdel-Moneam scored the equaliser after meeting Ali Maaloul's nice cross from a corner with a trademark glancing header to silence the stands.

After the goal, Wydad players pulled on the attack to score the winner, and Ahly players had chances to kill the game, but Ahmed Abdel-Qader and Mohamed Sherif failed to score.

The Red Devils seemed solid on the backline, preventing the hosts from making a real threat during the remaining minutes of the game.
