The draw for the semi-finals of the European Champions League has drawn Real Madrid and Manchester City, to renew the confrontation between the two teams, as well as Italian coaches Carlo Ancelotti and Spaniard Pep Guardiola.


The two teams met in the same round last season and exchanged wins, but Real Madrid outperformed the goal difference to qualify for the final match and win the championship.


The two teams met 8 times, each team won 3 matches and drew 2 matches

Likewise with the coaches, they also met 8 times, during their leadership of a number of teams distributed between England, Germany and Spain.


The upcoming confrontation between Ancelotti and Guardiola is the fifth between coaches in the Champions League.

The last confrontation between Ancelotti and Guardiola was during the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals last season between Real Madrid and Manchester City.


Manchester City beat Real Madrid 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium.


Before these matches, Ancelotti and Guardiola faced off in the Champions League when Guardiola was coach of Bayern Munich.


  Ancelotti was able to lead Real Madrid to sweep Bayern Munich, led by Guardiola at the time, 5-0 in the two semi-final matches of the 2013-2014 season, as he won the first leg in Spain 1-0 before repeating the victory back in Germany 4-0.
