Real Madrid and Belgium national team player Eden Hazard has announced his retirement from international football.
Hazard participated for the last time with the Belgium national team during the 2022 World Cup.
Hazard wrote on his social media account: "Today the page closes. Thank you for your love, for your endless support, and thank you for the happiness we have shared since 2008."
He added, "Today I decided to end my international career and I believe that the next generation is ready. I will miss you very much."
Hazard had participated for the first time in the Belgium national team shirt in a friendly match in 2008 against Luxembourg at the age of 17.
The 31-year-old participated with Belgium in the 2022 World Cup group stage exit and finished third behind Croatia and Morocco, and participated in the three matches.
Hazard participated with the Belgium national team in 126 international matches, during which he managed to score 33 goals and assist 36.
Hazard contributed to Belgium winning the gold medal in the 2018 World Cup when he won the match for third place over England with two free goals and managed to score the second goal.
Hazard will devote himself to playing with his club, whether only during the rest of his career, whether it is with Real Madrid or in the event of a transfer to any other club.
