Eindhoven of the Netherlands reached the qualifying round for the group stage of the European Champions League, after its thrilling victory over its French guest, Monaco, by three goals to two in the third qualifying round of the tournament.
Joy Fermann opened the scoring for PSV Eindhoven in the 21st minute, and Guillermo Maripan equalized for Monaco in the 58th minute.
In the 70th minute, French international Wissam Ben Yedder managed to score the second goal of Monaco, but PSV Eindhoven turned the tables completely on its guest when they scored the equalizer in the 89th minute through Eric Gutierrez, so the two teams went to two additional periods, as the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the second extra period, Luke de Jong managed to qualify the Dutch team by scoring the third goal in the 109th minute.
Benfica qualified to Champions League
Benfica also reached the qualifying round for the groups, after confirming its superiority over its Danish host, Mittelland, by defeating it in the second leg, by three goals to one.
The Portuguese team advanced with two goals by Enzo Fernandes and Henrique Araujo, before the hosts reduced the score with a goal by Pion Sesto, to finish the Benfica hat-trick Diogo Gonçalves shortly before the end of the match.
