Italian club Juventus announced Tuesday that French international midfielder Paul Pogba will be sidelined for five weeks, but will not undergo the knee surgery that would have kept him out of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
A club spokesman told AFP that Pogba, who returned to the old lady's club this summer after six years at Manchester United, will undergo a "five-week treatment".
Juventus had suffered a painful blow in their preparatory tour in the United States when Pogba, 29, suffered a severe injury to the right knee (meniscus), and he was continuing to consult specialists before deciding on the nature of treatment.
Thus, Pogba will miss the expected start of the Italian football league on August 13, but he can return in mid-September.
